Overall, my experience at ROOH was exceptional. The combination of traditional flavors with modern twists makes this restaurant stand out from the rest. The attention to detail in each dish and the passion for creating a memorable dining experience is evident in every bite. I highly recommend ROOH to anyone looking for a upscale and flavorful meal in San Francisco.
The food was delicious here! I recommend splitting entrees so you can try multiple things. The drinks have very interesting ingredients such as cheese, but were good. The service is a little slow, but makes sense for a place like this, and the environment is very young.
Creative and delicious Indian fusion with excellent service! On the pricier end but was a unique flavor experience. Ambiance - moody and small restaurant, we sat at a cozy table on the side. Service - our waiter was attentive and had great recs. We went at 7pm on a Friday and our food came out SO fast. Food - Wow! I'm vegetarian and was spoiled by all of my options. I listened to all the Yelp reviews and we started with the Dahi Puri - so yum! We also got: Mushroom Kulcha (this was my favorite by far), the jackfruit taco (our waiter suggested, very good) and an asparagus dish that was very flavorful. We were celebrating my birthday so they also brought out some coconut icecream that was delicious. A unique culinary experience as I've never had Indian food like this!
Rooh SF delivered an incredible dining experience! The Lamb Shank was the star of the meal--perfectly tender and infused with deep, aromatic spices. The rest of the meal was excellent too, showcasing Rooh's unique take on Indian fusion that perfectly caters to a broad range of tastes. I'll definitely be back to explore more of their menu!
Such a great concept with a mix of traditional Indian food and new concepts. Great ambiance with low lighting and great bar seating with an extensive drink menu. The food menu has a great mix of both small and large plates. Be sure to try the crab small plate!
Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a more upscale, modern twist on Indian food! My favorite dish was the Dahi Puri, one of the "to start" dishes. The outer shell is like a regular pani puri, made of semolina flour and has a satisfying crunch. The inside has a little bit of avocado, onion and tamarind with yogurt mousse that has a soft pillowy texture. I also liked the paneer pinwheel which has a tangy tikka masala style curry with small wheels of paneer in the center. Overall the presentation on all the dishes is fantastic and the ambiance matches. The service is also top notch - all of the staff are very attentive and helpful. They also packed leftovers for us (instead of the norm these days where you're just handed a to go box). I'll definitely be back!
The food was very good and food came out fast. Lots of staff members, very clean. And food was really fancy.
I'm a self-proclaimed Indian food fanatic, and I usually favor the casual, "down and dirty" restaurants. Fancy Indian places often double the price for the same dishes, leaving me unimpressed. But Rooh They completely changed the game! Innovation Meets Tradition: This restaurant offered a unique experience. The dishes were incredibly creative and beautifully presented, a far cry from the typical Indian fare. We were a group of four, and the wide selection of starters and small plates allowed us to sample a delightful variety. Highlights of the Night: Chili Garlic Crab: This dish was an absolute explosion of flavor! A must-try for seafood lovers. Dahi Puri: This classic street food was elevated to new heights. The combination of textures and tastes was incredible. A Minor Misstep: Our only disappointment was the Vegetable Kofta. While the server explained it contained coconut milk, there was an odd aftertaste that none of us could quite place. As a frequent kofta connoisseur, this was the only dish that fell short of my expectations. Overall Impression: Despite the minor misstep with the kofta, Rooh was a truly delightful experience. The creative and beautifully presented dishes were a feast for the eyes and the palate. Highly recommend checking it out if you're looking for an upscale Indian dining experience!
If there's anything you should take away from this review, it would be that ordering the dahi puri is a MUST!! You're hit with a variety of flavors with every bite. It felt like a fun explosion of flavor in my mouth. I have not had dahi puri before this, but my bar has definitely been set high after my experience here. As for the rest of the food, I would say that the taste is just alright for the price that they charge. The higher prices are probably more so for the presentation than the actual taste of the food. I enjoyed eating the puff. I would say that the puff paired with dahi puri is a great meal. Although, I think I would solely come back for the dahi puri and not much else.
